The diploma of the 1st level (B.Sc.) studies comprising principles of design and exploitation of control systems is necessary to enroll in Automatics and Metrology field of specialization.
M.Sc. studies on Automatics and Metrology improve students’ engineering knowledge concerning methodology of formulation and solving of problems encountered during research. The theoretical and practical methods of modelling, design, structure, testing and application of various control systems are the studied in the course of major and specialty courses. The most important courses comprise: modelling and system identification, programmable logic controllers, multidimensional and nonlinear control systems, optimization and numerical methods, measuring systems and project management. Refinement of the gained knowledge as well as application aspects are the subject of the senior project and the degree project. Additionally students may enhance their knowledge working in students’ scientific associations by taking part in scientific seminars and holiday meetings.
The graduates of Automation and Metrology field of specialization are prepared to design, develop and supervise operation of control systems in industry and other in applications. The base of the graduates’ engineering knowledge are algorithms of control, numerical simulation and decisionmaking. The graduates can use properly and efficiently software tools that aid solving engineering problems. They can program and interface both universal computers as well as programmable controllers. The graduates fluently use at least one foreign language. They possess sufficient background to manage project teams as well as run their own company. The considerably wide range of basic engineering knowledge makes the graduates very adaptable to changes taking place on the labour market.
